Giving Tree of Hope table

FirstLink is in need of individuals, families, older adults, youth (under age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult) and small groups (2-6) to help at the Giving Tree of Hope table at the West Acres mall from November 21st through December 11th.

Shifts are: 10am-2pm, 2pm-5pm, 5pm-9pm, Monday through Saturdays, and 12pm-3pm and 3pm-6pm on Sundays. Giving Tree of Hope Collection and Distribution day

FirstLink is in need of individuals, families, older adults, youth (under age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult) small and large groups to help on Collection day, December 12th and on Distribution day, December 13th. Young Life Snack provider

Young Life: Fargo/Moorhead is in need of individuals, families, older adults, and small groups (2-6) to make treats for the Young Life teenagers who will meet once a week. Approximately 60 treats are needed.  Young Life meets every Monday evening at Hatch Realty in South Fargo.  This can be an ongoing opportunity or a one-time commitment.  Just let them know how often/when you are willing to serve.

 

Providing Weekly Meals for Young Life Leaders.

Young Life: Fargo/Moorhead is in need of individuals, families, older adults and small groups (2-6) to make meals for the leaders of Young Life. Meals are needed once a week. Approximately 20 leaders. Young Life meets every Monday evening at Hatch Realty in South Fargo.  This can be an ongoing opportunity or a one-time commitment.  Just let them know how often/when you are willing to serve.

 

Board Members

A Place For Hope: Recovery and Wellness Center in need of individuals and older adults to fill positions on their board.  They are trying to fill 8 board positions in the following areas: One family member of a person with a lived mental health experience, one person from Public Health, one person with accounting/financial experience (someone who can do taxes), one person with business management experience, one person with fundraising experience, one person with networking/media public relations experience, one person with a legal experience (law enforcement and/or preferably a lawyer), one community member. Must be a minimum age of 18.

 

*Water Quality Monitoring

River Keepers is in need of individuals, families, older adults, (3 max)-small groups (2-6), youth-minimum age of 10 years old with adult to go out with staff and collect river water from four bridges around the Fargo-Moorhead area.  We collect samples twice a month, April-October.  Sampling takes about 4 hours and is done between 9am-2pm, Tuesday-Thursday.

 

Caring Companion Program

Tri-Valley Opportunity Council is looking for older adults (50 years of age or older) who want to make a difference in someone’s life. Help seniors have a better quality of life by providing social interaction, helping with shopping, giving needed individual attention, and helping them to remain more independent in their own homes.  Mileage reimbursed at federal rate.

 

*T-shirt to Tote Project

River Keepers is in need of individuals, families, older adults, small groups (2-6) and youth-minimum age 10 years old to help sew T-shirts into totes by cutting off the sleeves and collar, then sewing the bottom.  River Keepers will distribute T-shirt totes at community events. Can meet volunteer(s) at any time to drop off T-shirts.  Access to a sewing machine is a necessary.

 

*Storm Drain Marking Program

River Keepers is in need of individuals, families, older adults, small and large groups (2-50) and youth minimum age of 10 years old to help adhere curb markers next to storm drains and distribute door hangers to houses along the streets that are marked.  Location and time varies.

 

*Clean up on multiuse trails along the Red River

River Keepers is in need of individuals, families, older adults, small and large groups (2-20) and youth-minimum age of 2 years old to pick up trash on the multi-use/pedestrian trails along the Red River. Can be coordinated from early spring to late fall.  Location and time vary; waiver must be signed by all participants prior to event.

 

Big Brother or Big Sister Mentors

Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Village Family Service Center is in need of individuals, minimum age of 18 years old to spend time one-on-one with a youth in the Fargo-Moorhead community.  In the BBBS Community-Based Program, you will spend time with your little brother/sister 2-3- times a month-on your own schedule.  Mentors and Littles can go to the park, attend sporting events, play board games, or participate in other activities you both enjoy.  Volunteers are also needed in the school-based program volunteers meet with their “Little” an hour a week during the school-year onsite at the school. Activities include playing games, playing sports, and doing crafts.”

 

Service Unit Volunteers

Girl Scouts Dakota Horizon is in need of individuals and older adults to be a Fall Sale Coordinator, Cookie Sales Coordinator, Secretary, Registrar (All open positions). Usually monthly in the Fargo and West Fargo areas.

 

Troop Leaders, Assistant Leaders and Troop Support Volunteers

Girl Scouts Dakota Horizon is in need of older adults and small groups (2-6) to organize, lead and assist in troop activities for girls of all ages primarily K-5th in the Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo and surrounding communities.

 

Hospice Volunteer

Hospice of the Red River Valley is in need of volunteers. Patient care volunteers assist our patients and their families with varied tasks, such as running errands, light housekeeping, fixing a meal or providing companionship to the patient so a caregiver may take a break. We are also in need of specialized volunteer opportunities including pet therapists, licensed massage therapists, barbers/hairstylists, courier volunteers, office volunteers and Celebration Bear seamstresses. Scheduling is determined by patient request and volunteer availability. Senior Companion

Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is looking for individuals who are 55+ years of age to provide one-on-one companionship and social recreation to seniors who are lonely, isolated or homebound.  Receive an hourly stipend and mileage for your time and travel, plus other benefits. Hours: 15 hours/week. Schedule varies based on Volunteer’s availability.  Will be serving clients in their homes.

Booth Volunteer

FirstLink is in need of individuals, families and older adults to represent FirstLink at various booths in the community.  Time commitment is typically 2-4 hours per booth.  Booths are typically in the evenings and on weekends; some weekday booths maybe available.

 

Meal Delivery Volunteers

Valley Senior Services is in need of volunteers to assist with Meals on Wheels Delivery in West Fargo. Volunteers deliver the meals to homebound elderly in our community. Meals are delivered for the noon meal Monday through Friday out of the West Fargo high-rise. It is about a one-hour time commitment each week.
